Keeping the balance in our lives is something we all strive to do. As women in the working world, it’s quite challenging for us to balance our career and family life. So what’s the secret? How can we possibly do it all?
I’ve learned that it’s not just about trying to accomplish marking each task off our to-do lists, but instead doing it successfully so that we are proud of what we have set out to do. It’s true, life today has become very hectic. Between our careers and our personal lives, how can we find time in the day to simply smell the roses or kick back and read a good book?
I’m at a point in my life where I really don’t know how I’m able to do it all. Sometimes, I look around my house and wonder how my mom was able to do it with four kids. Yes, she was a stay at home mother, but she still had to maintain the household on top of raising us all while my dad was at work.
Today, I’m happily married to my best friend who gladly helps me take care of our family. Being a freelance journalist and photographer is not only what I do, it’s who I am. So my schedule is usually all over the place – definitely not the 9-5 type of job.
I’m quite organized and rely heavily on my calendar to help wade through this crazy busy life, but it’s not easy. There are times when I just want to crawl into bed and just ignore the world and everything I have to do.
A few of my closest friends have encouraged me to start this column as they too would like a place to find advice that will help them find balance.
This blog will help me and you learn how we can all Keep The Balance in our lives. I’ll be writing about established career women and how they have become successful in their lives, and will offer advice to the working mom or women who have just finished their studies and are starting a new career. We will discuss dealing with depression and how it affects our relationships, how to rekindle that spark with your significant other, getting back on the dating scene for women who have spent years in school and are now looking for love, and more. Topics will also include how to incorporate healthy eating into our hectic schedules.
