Have you ever wondered how the infamous Peter Pan came to be in Neverland? Or why his arch-nemesis Captain Hook despises him so? For those of you who grew up with Disney and hold stories like Peter Pan near and dear to your heart, Neverland was created just for you.

Written and directed by Nick Willing (Alice, Tin Man), this adventure/fantasy mini-series is a stunning prequel and re-imagining of Peter’s story. Neverland introduces viewers to a young orphaned boy named Peter and his streetwise crew, who are raised on the streets of London and survive on their cunning and fearless ways as pickpockets.

When the boys are enlisted by their mentor Jimmy Hook to perform a big heist of a jewelry store, which entails snatching a priceless treasure, the whole lot of them are mysteriously transported into an enchanting parallel world where time stands still. Peter gets left in London, until he finds out how to use this magical orb that also takes him to Neverland. His plan is to find Jimmy and his pals and to find a way back home. But things don’t go as smoothly as he would have hoped.

Neverland is a place of white jungles, strange mountains, treacherous oceans and legendary mysteries of eternal youth, where no one ever ages and lost souls have been plucked out of time. Soon the lost boys are caught in the middle of a war between a band of 18th century pirates and the Native American Kaw tribe, which has protected the secret of the tree spirits from the pirates for ages, and that has meant war. Meanwhile, Peter is thrust into a battle of his own with the man who will become Captain Hook.

This mini-series is an adventure like nothing you’ve ever seen before, a story that draws you into this strange and breathtaking world. It’s a stunning creation backed by extraordinary storytelling chronicling the origins of some of the most memorable characters. Neverland will take you on a journey back to where it all began.

Neverland stars Charlie Rowe (Peter Pan), Rhys Ifans (James Hook), Anna Friel (Captain Elizabeth Bonny), Charles Dance (Professor Fluid), Q’orianka Kilcher (Aaya), Bob Hoskins (Smee), and features the voice of Keira Knightley as Tinker Bell.
